NCPFC Membership
In May of 2011 we received notification from the IRS that the North Carolina Prescribed Fire Council, Inc. is exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code. The effective date of exemption is June 16, 2010. We are now qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts. In order to receive this status a budget showing annual income and expenditures was provided to the IRS. That budget includes income from membership dues. As such, the NC Prescribed Fire Council Board of Directors recently approved membership dues.
The calendar year for the NC Prescribed Fire Council begins August 1. Therefore, membership dues will be required beginning with the August 1, 2011 calendar year.
Membership benefits include:
- support of the NC Prescribed Fire Council's mission
- eligibility to vote
- eligibility to hold office
- eligibility to receive awards
- reduced meeting registration fees
- quarterly newsletter
- distribution list announcements
- awareness of policy and other issues related to prescribed fire
- opportunity for interaction with the prescribed burning community
An annual membership will cost $10 and will run from August 1st through July 31st or a lifetime "Spark" membership option can be purchased for $100.
